Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are the lounges in Edwards like?
A: Edwards has six lounges total (the most per capita compared to any other house!).
The biggest lounge is our Basement Lounge, shown on the "Virtual Tour" page. This is where we'll hold all house meetings, house parties and other events. This lounge is licensed, so you can have the equivalent of one alcoholic beverage serving at a time inside of it.
Also in the basement is the destressing lounge, filled with blankets, pillows, and positivity! This lounge isn't frequented very often and makes a great space to study.
The first floor lounge has no specific purpose, and is sometimes rented out to groups on campus for meetings. It's also a great study space.
The second floor has the Movie/Games Lounge with a nice TV, a Wii and lots of fun video games! It's a great place to hang out with friends.
The third floor has a Study Lounge with desks, books, and chalkboards which is the ideal place for studying, as well as a Ping Pong Lounge with (you guessed it), a ping pong table!
Q: What are Residence Assistants?
A: RAs are employed by Mount Allison's Student Life to make residence a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Your RA is the first person you can go to with an injury, a problem of any nature, if you want to chat, or if you need to grab a condom from their stash! The basement RA is Alex Marr, the first floor RA and Assistant Don is Maddy Smith, the second floor RA is Hope Salmonson, and the third floor RA is René Roy. The RAs are also in charge of issuing fines for broken rules in the house. This is their job. Harassment of RAs for execution of their job duties will not be tolerated.

A: Mainly, house exec is here to work together and give residents an awesome year. We plan events, organize things for the house, and are your contacts to campus life at Mount A. We also have individual roles as well:
Q: What does the House Don do?
A: The House Don is sort of like the parent or adult of the house. Our don always makes sure to keep up with Edwards residents and see how we're all doing. They live in their own apartment attached to the house, and works on-campus. You can go to the Don with any major issues you might be having in the house! The Don also works closely with the RAs and Exec to make sure everything in the house is running smoothly for everyone.
Q: Can I keep my moving boxes somewhere in the house after I move in?
A: Edwards does have a storage room where residents can keep things like boxes or unused desk chairs (depending on the space available) throughout the year. Because this room is used by the entire house, we ask that you only keep what you really need in there and do not have room for in your dorm room. The storage room can only be accessed in the presence of an RA, and is locked at all times. After you move into your room, RAs will be around very often to take you down to storage and put your things in.
Q: What is house council?
A: House council is formed in the early weeks of September once all residents have settled into Edwards. It comprises of the House Exec, the Senior RA, the House Don, two floor representatives for each floor (1st floor and basement count as one floor), two Eco Reps, two Intramural Reps, a Charity Rep, a Mental Health Rep, and a Food & Housing Rep, who attend weekly meetings on Sunday nights. These Reps are selected in early September, meaning that first years can apply for these positions, and are encouraged to do so!
